Günter Klabes

Associate Professor of German Studies

Professor Güenter F. Klabes studied in Munich and Freiburg, Germany, prior to coming to Haverford College as a Fulbright scholar. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. (1973) from Duke University and joined the faculty of Vassar College in 1974. In addition to serving as Chair of the German Studies Department for many years, he has also directed the Vassar Summer Program in Münster, Germany, which he founded in 1971 at Duke and brought to Vassar in 1975. His academic and research interests lie in German and English romanticism, turn-of-the-century literature and culture, German Expressionism and Dada.
